Dr Matthew Street is an Orthopaedic surgeon with an interest in Orthopaedic Sports medicine, particularly knee and shoulder arthroscopy, knee arthroplasty, tendon and ligament injuries, minimally invasive techniques and biological therapies.
After representing South Africa at Schools and U19 level cricket including the inaugural under 19 world cup tournament in South Africa, he represented Gauteng in first class and list A cricket for a number of years.
He received his undergraduate medical degree (2005) and specialized in Orthopaedic surgery (2013) at the University of Witwatersrand. And then undertook a knee surgery fellowship at the Linksfield Orthopaedic Sports and Rehabilitation centre and the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic hospital(CMJAH).
Thereafter, he worked as a consultant at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital Sports medicine unit.
He has a joint appointment as a lecturer in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Witwatersrand and currently works as the consultant in the CMJAH Soft tissue knee and Sports medicine unit.
He has been involved in several publications locally on a variety of orthopaedic topics and made numerous presentations related to these at congress’s.
He is a member of the South African Orthopaedic Association as well as the South African Knee Society.
Currently a keen golfer and has a growing interest in trail running.
