About Dr Ike Egbunike

Dr Ike EGBUNIKE is an orthopaedic surgeon and a fellowship trained
spine surgeon, with over 10 years’ experience in orthopaedic surgery.
He is well versed in acute spine trauma management, paediatric and
adult spine deformity correction (scoliosis, kyphosis), degenerative spine
disease management, as well as management of spine infections and
tumours (primary tumours and metastatic spine disease).

He has worked in both the public and private health sectors, successfully
managing a multitude of spine conditions. He is involved in the training of
medical students and orthopaedic surgery registrars who rotate through
the Spine Unit, Division of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of the
Witwatersrand.

He holds an MB;BS degree from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, a
Master’s degree in Sports Medicine from the University of Pretoria, South
Africa. He is a Fellow of the South African College of Orthopaedic
Surgeons and has completed a Spine Fellowship at the Charlotte Maxeke
Johannesburg Academic Hospital.
While doing his Master’s degree in Sports Medicine at Tuks, he was
actively involved in the management of sports related musculoskeletal
injuries.
He has presented academic papers at both local and international
conferences.
